What is Onyfix?
The Onyfix Nail Correction System is a solution for those suffering from painful nail conditions such as ingrown or involuted (curled/pincer) toenails.
A hardened composite resin is strategically placed at the base of the nail plate. This band is then cured with an LED light, effectively bracing the nail. As your toenail grows, the Onyfix band moves with it, guiding the nail to grow in the correct position and shape from the base to the tip.
The Onyfix brace doesn’t have the same negative points as a metal nail brace, such as:
- Damaging your socks with metal catching on the fabric.
- Pain & uncomfortable. Sometimes the metal brace breaks and piercing the skin.
- Ugly to look at.
The Process:
Initially, the Onyfix system remains on the toenail for about 6-8 weeks. This period allows for close monitoring of the nail’s growth and shape adjustment. If necessary, additional bands can be applied during this time to ensure the nail achieves the desired shape, with the total correction process potentially extending up to 6-12 months. Upon successful completion of the treatment, we will safely remove the Onyfix band from the nail plate.
Minimal Aftercare Required:
One of the key benefits of the Onyfix system is the minimal aftercare needed post-application. You can resume showering and swimming activities just 24 hours after the system has been applied. Moreover, you have the freedom to apply nail polish over the Onyfix strip, provided it can be removed with standard nail polish remover. However, it’s important to note that Shellac or Gel nail polishes should not be used in conjunction with Onyfix to ensure the effectiveness of the treatment.
